Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I plant native plants?

Native plants support the ecosystem of local wildlife, conserve water, improve soil health, reduce pest problems, and have lower maintenance costs.

What kind of yards is the program looking for?

Yards and gardens of all sizes, formal, informal, or natural, all play a vital role in the eco-friendly nature of our community. We recognize homeowners or businesses for their commitment to their own environmentally beneficial landscape.

How do I participate in the Patchwork for Wildlife™ program and when will evaluations take place?

Homeowners may request an evaluation of their own yard or nominate a neighbor or friend within the Red Bank community. Evaluations will take place April through September at mutually agreed times.

Can I make changes to my yard after I am awarded a certain level?

YES! We encourage homeowners to make changes, big or small, and to continue to take environmentally friendly landscaping measures.

If you have an Entry or Beneficial Level, you may qualify for the next level award—and a new yard sign!

How will I be recognized?

Participants will receive a yard sign to display, designating the property as one of three levels in the Patchwork for Wildlife™ Red Bank network. (see examples below)
